I was changing the BIOS settings on my PC and it started looping. The HP 400 g3 minitower with i5-6500 processor and H110 board would boot normally before, but during startup it wouldn’t show the post-menu and resetting whenever I pressed Esc or F10. If I didn’t intervene, it would load Windows 10 automatically. What could be causing this issue?

Ensure the CMOS cell is disconnected for five minutes before retrying the setup.

Thank you for the ideas! I won’t have a chance to test it last night, but I’ll try the CMOS reset by removing the battery after work tonight. I’ll share any results once it works.

Thanks for the feedback! I won’t have a chance to test it last night, but I’ll try the CMOS reset using the battery removal after work tonight. I’ll share any results if it solves the problem. Update: removing the battery cleared the CMOS, reset a few times, then produced some loud noises before launching the POST screen and loading Windows. Thanks again!

Great update! The CMOS battery powers the BIOS settings, and removing it for a short time resets them to the original state. Perfect!
