Hey, I had my primary router in my room giving me 200Mbps and 5Mbps. We get our internet from a single main router that doubles as a TV, with small TVs in each room connected via wired internet. Until two days ago the router was moved around the house without any problems. But two days back it shifted again and now I’m seeing 60+Mbps and 5+ upload speeds. It takes forever to open a Goggle page, and my phone, PC, Steam games, and Blizzard app keep crashing with an error saying connection lost. When I try to stream a 1080p video it works perfectly. If I switch to my brother’s room using the main router’s Wi-Fi, everything functions fine. Anyone know what’s going on? Sorry for the bad English.
When Wi-Fi works well in some areas and poorly in others, a simple fix is to use a Wi-Fi extender such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Ran...lp_pl_dp_1. After setting up the instructions, you can relocate it around the house whenever required. It doesn’t need reconfiguration each time you connect it.
It seems many packets are lost or connections time out because responses aren't coming through. Just because speeds are listed doesn't guarantee messages are being sent or received properly (ping test). Try relocating the router to a spot with better coverage. Or consider purchasing an AP or Wi-Fi repeater to strengthen the signal in your area.
I’ll attempt to get my parents, but they had to wait on the phone for the host for about an hour and a half.
I checked my router's IP address. I tried rebooting Gatewayray, and it looks like the issue is resolved. It's unclear how long this will last. For closing the topic, follow your platform's instructions.
If it's a signal issue it may only be a temporary solution. If it keeps working though that's great. You don't really have to. Most people don't.
