I'm working on a new gaming setup with an AMD Ryzen 5000 Series processor. I'm unsure how to enable AMD Ryzen 5000 support on the motherboard since most listings require a BIOS update. Since I don't have a CPU from the 3000 series or an older one, I wonder if I can install the Ryzen 5000 directly without booting into Windows but still allow updates to a compatible BIOS. Any advice would be helpful!

New motherboards are being sent with the latest BIOS that works with 5000 series processors. Many boards can be updated to their BIOS even without a CPU, as long as they support BIOS flashback, which this model does.

BIOS flashback typically involves downloading the firmware onto a USB drive and using specific hardware controls on the motherboard to restore it. It’s a method that can be confusing, but it’s different from the usual update process.

Get the BIOS file for your motherboard using a USB drive formatted as FAT32. Insert it into the correct port and press the designated button. Check your motherboard’s manual for specifics on the port and button.

Gigabyte offers a video explaining how to update the BIOS with their "Q-Flash" feature. The video is recommended for viewers who prefer to skip the background music.

They faced the same problem but received another ASUS Mono instead, which I didn’t expect since I was hoping for a different one. I wanted to use Flashback to verify I could boot my new 5800X.
