I have a query about Ryzen 5000 compatibility with 400 series boards. AMD mentioned that the ROM size restricts adding older CPUs after BIOS updates, but some high-end X470 boards like the Crosshair Hero Vii support larger ROMs. Could these be able to run older generations even after a BIOS upgrade?

400-series boards are expected to include Ryzen 5000 compatibility, though this can differ between boards and makers. Check the exact motherboard to confirm support.
