Hey there, I’m considering upgrading my RAM. I have a MSI Tomahawk B450 MAX and a Ryzen 5 3600, and I’m looking for something new. A G Skill Trident Z 16GB kit (3600MHz, CL18) is available for about 100€ in Germany. Should I go for it? What would be a good choice? Thanks for your advice!
Sure thing. CL16 would be better, but it might not be worth the investment just for gaming Trident Z, which appears to offer good value right now. I’m ordering Z Neos for my 3900x.
Focus on what matters most: speed or latency. You also discovered a 3000MHz Cl34 kit for a bit more.
You can assess performance here: https://notkyon.moe/ram-latency.htm. However, with Ryzen this isn't the complete picture. The infinity fabrics speed—linking CPU cores and peripherals—is dependent on RAM speed. A 3000Mhz RAM will limit performance, while a 3600Mhz RAM can unlock full potential. Therefore, enable the 3600 Kit with XMP settings for optimal results.
I checked a bit more and decided to purchase a Trident Z Neo 16GB 3600MHz CL16 Kit. Thanks for your comments.
