Support for Minecraft server and i7 setup
So I tried to get help from the Minecraft forums, no one replied. So I'm hoping someone will notice it here. I should point out this is a vanilla server. - Hello, So I've been trying to setup a simple creative server for just me and a few friends, and I'm having some difficulty. Specs: i7 4790k GTX 970 RAM: 8gb Server is on a 1TB HDD Windows 8.1 With no one on, the average tick is ~2.5ms. When I get on, the average tick goes up to 20ms+ and I get repeated "could not keep up" errors if I fly around or teleport. If I try to get it to use 2gb of ram, it gives me the error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for 2097152KB object heap Any suggestions are much appreciated! The bat file: If I left any necessary information out just tell me.
I followed your advice and the issue has gotten better. Now I'm using 2GB of RAM. It's still not performing as fast as I hoped. The average tick duration is around 8-12ms, but it jumps to 20-30ms during teleportation. There was a "Can't keep up" message saying I'm lagging 9979ms behind and skipping 199 ticks. That happened once when I joined and twice after teleporting.
This process of creating new terrain leads to temporary slowdowns, indicating the "running behind" warning. It doesn’t cause any damage or stop the server from functioning.
It's stored on a different hard drive. The operating system runs on an SSD. Alright, I'll proceed as is for now. Appreciate all the assistance!
It's the standard 1TB Caviar Blue from WD. I'm not getting it, I'll proceed with that.
