I prefer using Windows 10 locally with a personal Microsoft account. I saw that Forza 6 is available for free download. Setting up an account should connect it to your Windows 10 system. It shouldn’t interfere unless you enable certain login requirements, but it won’t force you to use Win 10’s login from now on.

I believe you're referring to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex. You'll need a Microsoft account to connect your PC's local account. It seems straightforward—just use the same password or PIN, and there shouldn't be any issues. @AluminiumTech

Yes, it does need one. A Windows 10 account is required. You might think of it as a local account. The Microsoft account can connect to the Windows key on your PC without any issues. No problems expected. Appreciate having you included.

All purchases from stores must be connected to your account. It doesn’t link to your computer, so you won’t have to buy the game again when you reinstall Windows, upgrade it, or move systems. You can run and play your game on up to ten PCs simultaneously. This lets you use it across multiple devices at home—your laptop, tablet (if compatible), and any other machines. There will be no disruption; just a change in your login password to the new Microsoft account you linked. Benefits of using a Microsoft account include:

- Integration with OneDrive
- Synchronization of settings and personalization across devices
- Windows key tied to your account for smoother reinstalls
- Edge bookmarks and system updates shared between devices
- Access to subscription services such as Office 365, Groove Music, and streaming options
- SMS and critical notifications like low battery alerts (available on Android with Cortana or Windows 10 Mobile)
- No iPhone support due to the secure operating environment

I realized you can bypass the sync entirely. As @revsilverspine noted, Microsoft is providing Forza Motorsport 6: Apex as a free Windows 10 download. I don’t want to connect my local account to an online one, and I’m not sure what my online account should control. To my surprise, during the final game install stage there was an option to just “log in to the app only.” I chose that and successfully avoided linking my local account. Thankfully! But if most people here assume everything must be linked, it seems MSFT made this change recently.
