I've relocated to New Zealand some time ago and reconnected with an old friend in South Africa. We used to play games together often, but titles like Borderlands are too slow for our enjoyment now. We're searching for RPGs or stories that work well in co-op, not wanting another MMO since we're both past that. I'm enjoying Diablo 2, but we're aiming for something more recent. Looking for recommendations on solid single-player experiences that handle lag well—we can play Mec Warrior Online, though the combat feels a bit slower than ideal.

Torch Light, Path of Exile, and Light of Exile are excellent titles.

These ideas could work in Tales of Zestiria or Beseria. Alternatively, having the second version locally might be necessary.

I've played Path of Exile, and although I appreciated the skill tree and all the discoveries, I found it lacking in a strong narrative and often unchallenging. Still, it's a great game overall. It's not the same as D2, just an example. I'd really enjoy subnautica Multiplayer because it focuses more on goals and storytelling rather than the repetitive mechanics of games like Ark or Minecraft.

Turn-based games could be beneficial.

We have no problems with them; both of us enjoy xCom, but we'd prefer more co-op options over the VS side.

Warhammer Armageddon and Warhammer 40,000 are both expansions, but they’re not co-op games. They’re standalone titles in their own right.

Space Hulk has a game? I'll check it out, thanks.
