Support DDR5 Expo
Support DDR5 Expo
Hello, I'm using a b850 livemixer from Asrock and facing issues with EXPO. My reported RAM speed is 6000MHz, but at CL36 it drops to 4800MHz and around CL40. When I manually set it to 6000MHz, it works, but it seems to prefer CL50. I'm not sure what to do and need some guidance.
CPU-Z shows current stats: 2395.1 MHz frequency (DDR5-4790), timing ratio 1:24, clock speeds 40-40-40-77-117 (tCAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC). Two modules detected: Corsair 16384 MB (DDR5-4800) with XMP 3.0, P/N CMK32GX5M2E6000Z36; another Corsair 16384 MB (DDR5-4800) same specs.
It seems uncertain. The QVL list refers to verified modules, but most memory units still function outside it. Your part number confirms a 6000MT/s AMD+intel compatible kit, which should operate at 6000MHz. The motherboard supports up to 8000MHz, though AMD chips may not reach that speed yet. When using CPU-z, choose the SPD tab to see listed JEDEC and XMP standards.
These specifications are clearly listed, with a picture included. As mentioned, I can manually adjust them to 6000MHz, but the latency numbers in the 40s will likely rise to the 50s, making it hard for EXPO to allow it. Looking at the ASrocks community, some users seem to be facing similar problems with the newest BIOS, so it might not be an isolated issue.
There could be a fixed BIOS in the future. It's normal for XMP or Expo settings to behave unpredictably. As long as you can adjust them manually, it should work fine. Also, initial reviews of DDR5 indicated that timing parameters are less critical for performance compared to DDR4 and earlier versions. Have a great day!
Thanks for helping me: at least I understand I'm not the only one.
