Long time lurker here. I really want to invest in Star Citizen and want the superhornet, but, as it is limited and such, do you guys have a suggestion on what to buy in the meantime or should I just wait for the SH to go on sale?

I personally don't understand the reason behind investing heavily in a game that isn't nearly complete yet.

I haven't used it much after getting my starter pack since it seemed more like an alpha than a beta, but it's still quite solid.

Until multi-crew starts, we're in the pre-alpha stage. Keep in mind the definitions: pre-alpha means initial testing, alpha is checking functionality during development, beta indicates completed development with bug fixes.

CitizenCon arrives this Saturday with possible discounts. If the SH isn’t present, the anniversary event is approaching, offering notable savings from last year. Edit: sniped by @ rucdoc

Thanks everyone, I'm planning to hold off on CitCon then. See you at the event!

The SH isn't ideal for beginners right now. It packs a lot of firepower, but you could easily render it useless by messing with its thrusters. It's a bit fragile. The damage from thruster issues will be resolved over time, though it probably won't handle smaller ships well in the long run. Primarily designed for engaging larger vessels and dealing with bombers or smaller capital ships, it’s meant to be a heavy fighter. Once you’ve mastered simpler craft like the Hornet, you might consider upgrading to the SH later when it becomes available.

The Aurora LN has a limited starting setup despite its potential for enhancement (such as S2 mounts on the wings, S3 shields, and upgraded power systems). Currently, I suggest going with the Avenger, which I plan to upgrade to later.

I began with the Avenger and ended up accumulating a significant amount of Amazon credit once it became available. It seems worthwhile, though I’m sharing this perspective from someone who only paid $30 of their own money, which isn’t perfect for everyone.
