Considering a build for mid next year, I found a great deal on RAM. Initially, I intended to purchase everything later in May or June, but this offer seems solid enough to act now. The Galax HOF 3600mhz 2x8gb kit is the best non-sketchy option at Rp. 615k or about 40 USD, making it cheaper than similar 2666mhz models. It should work well with either a 5600x or 12100f board. Should I go ahead and buy it or hold off?
Confirmed the die or only checked the packaging? Request the seller to provide a screenshot of the burner to ensure the die supports 3600c17 as well as any other models in 3600c18 and the 3600 garbage non-bdie cl16 at that price. If you're just running stock or it's a kit, it's a solid deal. However, if it isn't a die or at least a Hi-Nix DRAM and you need overclocking, consider purchasing bare PCBs like Crucial or Micron 2666C19 around 200-250rb each, preferably with C9BJZ (top revision capable of ~5000 DDR4).
I verified the serial number from the seller’s listing and used the B-Die checker. Would that be sufficient? I’m planning to start with a stock purchase. I’m almost certain it’s a B-die kit as I confirmed earlier.
It's a reasonable deal for B-Die, but make sure the warranty is solid. The seller likely offered a low price for a strategic reason. Running it at full stock doesn't make sense if you want to buy it at a discount.
I mentioned it’s the most affordable option here, even cheaper than the others. I added that it was a b-die to gather more details about its overall worth, because usually b-dies cost more. That’s a solid idea. I believe it has a dead warranty, given that production seems to have ended around 2016. Does the RAM age without use? If it does, I might rethink my decision. As for now, I’m okay with operating without a warranty, as long as the build quality is solid.
The checker isn't perfectly precise. New kits exist that fit the B die category but aren't strictly B die, and vice versa. Previously, 3600 CL17-18-18 was reliably B die, but now it's more uncertain—often around 50/50 between lower B die and high DJR/CJR models. Since it's a HOF kit, I'd lean toward it being B die, though it's not a guaranteed certainty. The main advantage of a B die kit is its strong overclocking potential and tight timing. If you're only targeting XMP speeds, any kit close to that range (like 3600 CL16-19-19 or 3600 CL16-18-18) will behave similarly.
I think I won't be changing the original settings because I'm planning to run it on a basic ITX board. I'm not very familiar with RAM overclocking, so please understand. The memory size I intend to use is an Asrock A520m ITX/ac, which typically maxes out at 3600MHz. Things could shift if I discover a comparable ITX board that supports higher RAM overclocks.
These boards allow RAM overclocking and can reach speeds up to 4733MT/s with a strong CPU. If you're not using an APU (like the 5600G), the CPU might hit around 3800MT/s, but you can fine-tune the timings effectively. The B450 board would be a better choice, especially if you can find one, as ITX models often handle memory well and PBO issues are rare. The A520 board should also work nicely with a solid RAM overclock.
