So, I think even building a middle-of-the-road system should work fine. The goal is to stick with an ultra-wide setup of 2560x1080.
It looks like Call of Duty and its expansions aren’t really pushing frame rates too hard, but I’m still not entirely sure. He doesn’t need crazy performance—just casual gaming with his cousins, etc. In particular for COD: Warzone.
He also mentions doing some Canva work and using DJing gear and music software. The exact details aren’t clear.
BUT, once he gets a budget, I have some older components I want to check. I think if I can help him save some money, that would be great.
Would the following be enough or more than enough for these requirements?
Ryzen 5 1600AF
RX 5600 OEM*
16 GB RAM
That graphics card seems to work about the same as, or slightly faster than, a GTX 1080, or roughly 10% slower than an RX 5600 XT.
Any thoughts? He’d probably prefer high settings rather than ultra/maximum. Of course, if he switches to a 3440x1440 monitor, this GPU would likely be out of the question.

This won't deliver high frame rates and the game focuses on the fluidity of gameplay.

Are you wondering if the CPU or GPU is the main constraint? I've checked both claims, but neither really clarified the situation 😅
