You probably got your kicks from a lot of fun activities or experiences back then.

Well, there are plenty of other ideas to consider. Dust an Elysian Tail, Guacamelee Gunpoint, Oddworld, New'n'Tasty, and the Gothic series are all worth checking out. The Gothic series, while not a top pick, definitely holds up for two and three. Would you like to explore more options?

SOMA offered a strong horror experience with deeper themes compared to other titles in Frictional's collection. Life is Strange, The War of Mine, and Valiant Hearts Glitchhickers each provided distinct and engaging gameplay. Gone Home and Papers Please delivered memorable endings, though the latter didn't reach mass audiences. Sunset offered a touching farewell from a talented development team, but its impact remains subjective. Overall, it seems like a mix of thought-provoking and entertaining experiences.

Dead Space 1 & 2 (3 was uncertain) reminds me of Dark Souls? It also mentioned something like F.E.A.R. 2.

I agree with your reaction I haven't heard anybody mention this game on here before. It was a lot of fun to play. There is a lot of variation and the levels become quite challenging later on. However, the bosses were reasonable and EPIC! They were much more strategic than hard.
