Suddently low fps
Are you willing to take the chance?
If so, you might try using a GPU stock air cooler to check for improvements. If that helps, the problem probably lies in your open loop. But if not, it could be elsewhere—possibly in the software, such as the operating system.
I used the Cryofuel from my loop once more. I rinsed the system with distilled water and refilled it with the 5-month-old Cryofuel until I reached the new one. I removed the waterblock from the GPU and noticed some of the paste was hard (similar to clay, EKwb paste), so I replaced it, and the same with the thermal pads. It worked! Now I’m sitting at 61-63°C on Heaven and achieved a score of 2504. In CP2077 I get about 80-105fps, with DLSS enabled, and I’m now running it for the first time with RayTracing active, achieving 50-65fps.
You also checked the link provided where someone else had the same problem and servicing the open loop resolved it?
The paste tends to harden over time, but because it's a proprietary product, it might set more quickly, encouraging more frequent servicing of open loops. I'm not sure about that.
If so, it's a clever tactic by EKwb to ensure people keep maintaining their open loops.
It's good to know your issue was fixed.
Yeah I also read it😁
And definitely if their paste is supposed to harden like that, it shows they really put thought into it😅.
I’m not sure, but my guess about what happened with my temps could be that the paste was slowly becoming harder and harder until it stopped working properly.
Yeah, this seems like the most probable next step.
However, while gaming, your GPU keeps generating a lot of heat, possibly even more than your CPU and the cooling solution you use, which might not be built to manage such intense temperatures. This could be due to EKwb's hidden strategy and is meant to occur. 😆
It's interesting how the differences between GPU and CPU temperatures can vary. I'm pretty sure the paste I applied once was the same as the one I used on my CPU. During yesterday's repasting, I saw that the seal from the GPU Block paste remained intact, which suggests I likely used identical paste for both GPU and CPU. Could be the paste quality differs between the two types🤔
