Hello everyone, I attempted to restart my PC today. It powers on briefly before shutting off again. Not sure what was happening, so I checked everything carefully. Still nothing works. I removed both RAM modules and it continued to boot, so I kept just one and swapped it with another. That stopped the boot process completely. After reinserting everything except the faulty stick, the PC still wouldn’t power on. My keyboard and mouse were flickering, which seemed suspicious. I checked the motherboard again and noticed debug LEDs. My system uses an MSI Z270 with an I7-7700 VENGEANCE processor and a 16GB DDR4 DRAM kit. According to their documentation, the top two LEDs light up when I power on the machine. I moved the working stick to another slot but the problem persisted. I also tried unplugging all components and performing a hard reset by holding the power button for 30 seconds. I’m worried about reinstalling the CPU, as I haven’t experienced any issues with this machine for three years. Any advice would be appreciated.

Review a few YouTube tutorials on CPU removal; proceed safely. Be mindful of the pins. You might need some thermal paste nearby if you don’t have it.

Remove the CMOS battery for five minutes to ensure safety, then reinstall it. After that, attempt the process using only the single stick in the proper position.

I don't have thermal paste either. It didn't work, thank you for the ideas.
