Suddenly experiencing a wild stuttering flow.
Suddenly experiencing a wild stuttering flow.
Hey everyone, I've been observing quite a few micro stutters lately, or even some really noticeable stuttering. I used to have some trouble with inconsistent and strange performance, but things have improved a bit recently. However, micro stutter is especially clear in games like Fortnite, Dead by Daylight, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Minecraft (Java). The biggest problem seems to be Minecraft—when I’m running smoothly at 800-1600FPS+, it suddenly drops to around 5-0 and takes a while (10-15 seconds) to bounce back. In other titles it’s still there but not as severe. Dead by Daylight is particularly affected, dropping from 110-120 to 80-90 when nothing is happening on screen.
On my PC setup: Windows 11 Home, Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO WIFI (F63c), AMD Ryzen 7 3700X overclocked via Ryzen Master (4.2GHz @ 1.30625V), XFX AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT overclocked with Adrenaline (500MHz–2800MHz, 1100mV, 2300MHz VRAM, 20% power limit), Corsair LPX 4x8GB 32GB (3200MT/s @ 1.3V), plus a bunch of drives including Samsung EVO 860, WD Blue 1TB, Seagate BarraCuda 2TB, and an EVGA SuperNOVA 1000GT monitor.
I’ve always had some odd performance hiccups since I first built this system with a 2x8GB 16GB 2666MT/s RAM setup, RTX 2060, and an R5 2600X. Now it feels so strange to experience those micro stutters and overall slowdowns. I think my PC is still solid outside of maybe upgrading the RAM to something faster—like a 2x32GB 64GB 3600MT/s kit—and doing a fresh Windows install when I replace all drives with M.2 options.
I’m really confused and a bit lost. I’ve checked every tutorial online, but it’s making me hesitant to play games anymore. I’ve also tried running everything in default settings for my CPU and GPU, and my memory is actually running slower than before—sometimes at 3533MT/s versus 3400MT/s earlier. The graphics card and power supply were new purchases from August and December.
fortnite runs smoothly even on a 4090, though it can feel choppy sometimes. In Minecraft, rendering chunks might cause frame rate drops. For Dead by Daylight and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I haven’t played them yet, but I’d suggest clearing any background processes and using DDU to remove graphics drivers before reinstalling. Also check for background tasks using CPU, GPU, or memory.
its mostly a games issue, nothing you can do probably. but that you're also overclocking doesn't help obviously. i would recommend to reinstall windows, make sure all drivers are up to date, bios too, and *do not overclock* unstable overclocks can cause many issues, including those you described.
