Stutters
Stutters
Hello everyone. I’m reaching out for your assistance. I recently put together a new PC (excluding the PSU) and am experiencing stuttering issues. The average frame rate is around 60 FPS or higher without VSync, but it drops to about 15 to 19 FPS when using 1% or 0.1% settings. Here’s what I have:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- Motherboard: MSI B550 A Pro ATX
- RAM: Aegis G-Skill 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz (2 x 8)
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
- Storage: WD SN770 SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0
- Cooler: Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 + 2011 PSU (Cooler Master Silent Pro 850W, 80 Plus Bronze)
The problem is that most games stutter, especially at ultra or low settings. I tested titles like The Crew 2, Crew Motorfest, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Valheim, and NFS Unbound. Only Ac Valhalla and AC Mirage ran smoothly with ultra graphics.
I ran benchmarks and stress tests on GPU and CPU using 3D Mark and Kombustor, but everything worked fine. The PSU seemed stable during testing. After a driver reset and a GPU swap to the old RX 580 8GB, the issues persisted. I also tried disabling XMP, running games at stock RAM speed (2133 MHz), putting the PC in performance mode, adjusting virtual memory, and even reformatted the drive—still no improvement.
My initial thought is the PSU might be insufficient, but a specialist suggested it could cause crashes or a black screen if it couldn’t handle the power. I’m unsure what’s going on and would really appreciate any advice or help you can offer. Thanks in advance!
