stuttering in fortnite
stuttering in fortnite
I have a 4790k processor up to 4.8ghz, 24gb DDR3 RAM (2x8 + 2x4, which gives me 16gb total; I added the extra 8gb just in case), an RTX 2060 EVGA KO Ultra with an extra 100 cores and 800MB of memory, hidden with two Arctic P12 fans. My motherboard is an ASUS Z97-C. My monitor supports 1080p at 76Hz. My RAM timings are 12-11-11-30, but I experience annoying stutters in Fortnite. No issues elsewhere except in Fortnite. Someone with a similar setup—GTX 1080 and a comparable GPU—gets no stutters, while my specs remain stable. My temperatures stay below 80°C on the GPU during gameplay, CPU usage rarely hits 100%, and stutters appear only when it reaches that level. There’s still unused GPU and RAM available while playing. I have Fortnite installed on a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD. I’m running Fortnite in fullscreen mode. On average, CPU usage fluctuates but stays between 40% and 80%, rarely exceeding those limits. I use dual monitors at 76Hz each, both connected to the GPU, one at 1920x1200. My PC isn’t affected by internet latency since I’m using Ethernet and have consistent ping. FPS spikes occasionally, but never drop below 40 or rise above 80. I also run a MSI afterburner on my second monitor, which monitors performance; during Fortnite sessions it showed no obvious stuttering. Here’s what the data says (idle): Nothing has changed since I tried everything.
You had a mix of RAM sizes—two 8 GB, two 4 GB, and then added another 8 GB. That’s a bit confusing.
I used a typical 2x8GB setup, added an extra 8GB for testing, but the issue persists—so it’s not the memory.
