Apologies for creating an account just for this. I thought someone here might know, but HP is currently out of hours and won’t help right now—not that they’re particularly helpful anyway. I was attempting to start my workstation in BIOS. I tried pressing F10, then booted through recovery and CMD, but nothing worked. I pressed the CMOS button hoping it would reset the BIOS settings so I could access BIOS. After turning the machine back on, I pressed F10 again and saw a "Secure Boot" message. It says: “A request has been made to change this system's secure boot configuration. This may affect the secure boot keys and/or may disable secure boot.” Please type in and enter the number below for authorization.

My issue is that every time I boot, I’ve entered the number and pressed enter, but nothing changes. I’ve tested both front and rear USB ports and don’t have a backup keyboard, though I know it works. I found a few HP posts with no solutions and some background info here:

I’ve attached a photo of my monitor, but I’m unsure how to proceed. This screen is blocking me from using the PC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Experiences with Secure Boot across various systems have sometimes forced a complete reinstallation of Windows. If you need to recover data, connecting the drive to another computer can help preserve important files. Secure boot usually won’t block access unless BitLocker is active, in which case recovery becomes difficult. My approach might seem extreme, but Windows’ handling of Secure Boot has often led to simpler fixes than trying to patch it. Have a great day!

You haven't lost your place yet. Access your www.microsoft.com account, select your user, and enter your Microsoft page. A BitLocker recovery key should be available if your license was registered to that account. If it's within a domain, you can recover it through an administrator or from the domain controller database.

You're asking about the meaning of "nothing happens." It could refer to a lack of progress, inaction, or a situation where no changes occur.
