Stuck on boot cycle
Stuck on boot cycle
I've been facing problems with my PC for a while. When it starts up, it refuses to boot into BIOS and keeps looping through the boot process unless all storage devices are disconnected (M.2 and HDD). Even then, it goes through several cycles before finally reaching BIOS.
At first I suspected the drives were faulty. I tried using them in another PC, which worked perfectly and allowed me to install Windows on each drive and format them. The drives themselves seemed fine.
Next, I replaced the power supply unit, thinking it might be the issue. Still, the same problems persisted.
I’m now considering the CPU as the likely culprit and need more assistance before making a purchase.
System details:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600x
Gtx1660ti
Asus TUF A520M-plus WiFi
Corsair cx450
16gb Kingston Fury 3200mhz
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
What is the age of the PSU in your setup? If the Corsair unit is being replaced, could you share the make and model along with its age?
You referred to drives but didn’t include them in the specifications. Regarding your motherboard, did you keep the same board or upgrade to a different one?
the power supply seems a bit weak, have you experimented with different ram? what is your ram setup—does it have one or two sticks? and did you install the ram in slot 2?
The PSU is around 2 to 3 years old
However, I don’t believe it’s a problem—I installed a more recent 750W PSU and it still had the same boot loop
I also tried adding one stick of RAM, using ones I’m familiar with, but the issue persisted
Verify that the motherboard isn't experiencing shorts due to an unexpected stand-off beneath it. It might be helpful to remove all components from the case and reassemble it on a wooden table or a cardboard box. Avoid doing this on carpet.
