Hey there! I’m dealing with a mixed build that’s stuck in a boot loop. It powers on, lights up, goes through MOBO effects, reaches the boot screen, then briefly sees a red CPU flash before shutting down and restarting again. This repeats over and over. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: reseating the RAM. Any suggestions or advice would be super helpful. Thanks!

Also, a quick note: I connected the SATA cable to SATA6 instead of SATA1 and plan to swap it out. I’ll also check the CMOS next.

Combine all your parts onto someone’s desktop, assuming everything functions except for one, then the issue likely lies there. Generally, people focus on placing the CPU and RAM first, followed by the power supply, with the motherboard as the final consideration.

I don’t have another PC to connect to. I’m wondering if the refurbished HD might be the issue. It seems EZDebug works fine until it reaches BOOT and then shuts down. Could a problem on the drive itself be causing this? Try reformatting the disk to see if that resolves the problem.

I don’t believe drives will cause a bootloop, though you’re welcome to correct me. Most bootloops stem from faulty motherboards or processors. Since you’ve already replaced the RAM and intend to re-seat the CMOS, you might attempt one at a time. Visiting a repair shop could also help. Just start by re-seating the CMOS, and if the issue persists, bring it to a professional.

It might have been, but I just installed it fresh today. The CMOS failed to activate. Changing the HD cables didn't help. The only step I haven't taken is reseating the CPU. A repair shop will be open early tomorrow. I think I'll follow their advice and proceed that way.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get this thing running by Tuesday. Supposed to have this thing built so my partner and I can play a game we've been waiting over a year for. I was hoping I could throw this together and have it working but c'est la vie. Thanks for the luck!

Hey everyone, the repair shop thinks it might be a 2070 GPU since they tested two cards and your setup worked. But they also moved your GPU to another machine where it functioned perfectly. Your own machine works with another GPU card and your original GPU also works in another setup. What do you think?

It appears the card that doesn't function seems to operate correctly in other machines at the shop. I'm planning to replace the card I'm using on my current machine with a different one specifically for the new machine. Good luck!
