stuck cpu clock
hey guys i'm facing a problem and i'm pretty sure I've tried everything. i did a 4.0 mhz overclock on my 2700x, but now it won't return to the original 3.7 speeds. it boots fine into windows, but even though the bios is set to 3.7, the specs, hardware ID, and cam all show the cpu at 4.0. i flashed the motherboard a few times, cleared the CMOS, and updated the drivers, but it still won't drop back down. i've also checked the voltage, which is at its max of 1.313 during cinebench, so that shouldn't be an issue. it seems like this might just be an acoustic problem. any advice would be really helpful.
bios failed to read the previous bios, which is very odd—I don’t get how the CPU can be configured to a different frequency when the BIOS is set to another one, even though Task Manager shows 4.0. I have the stock NZXT Aer 120s.
Could there be an issue that remains unresolved on your C drive? Restoring your saved files and performing a system restore might help bring things back to normal.
