Thank you for your feedback. I reviewed the price comparison between 5700X3D, 5800X3D, and AM5 7800X3D. It seems the differences aren't as significant as I thought—like the 7800X3D being only 100GBP more than the 5800X3D in the UK. The second-hand market appears similar to the new market, possibly around 30GBP less. That’s why I considered the AM5 option.

Thanks a lot, I understood your advice well. Exceeding 3600 MHZ is quite challenging for most CPUs. You should definitely be a top-tier overclocker with solid expertise, which I don’t think I have. I’m also surprised by the final part you said. Thank you for clarifying. Honestly, my goal is to get a reliable PC that performs well. Before, I struggled to find parts and even buy them. Now I see there’s a good selection of components at reasonable prices and performance. I’m planning to reach out to experienced people so I can save time and money.

I’d likely choose the 5600(X) and invest the savings into a superior GPU, as it would have a more significant impact compared to a 5700X3D.

You just need confidence and determination, no fear. As a 16-year-old, you're already handling 3000+ DDR3 on an X58 and pushing 1520 DDR2 on a 775 stable a year ago. It’s not that complicated unless you’re aiming for top speeds like 3800-4000 on Zen2/3 CPUs—still pretty slow compared to what you’re used to. Stress tests with p95 largeffts will confirm stability. The real challenge comes when you push over 5000 DDR4, then things get tough. What’s your budget looking like for this upgrade? A used B550 is not a good deal, but a 200-250£ 5800x3D could work alongside a 3200C14/4400C19 or 3600C16 for 32GB RAM at those speeds.

Wow thats very remarkable. i am speechless once i noted you overclocked a DDR2 machine ... I want to spend 200GBP (MAX) for the cpu. im fine with used cpus too. in UK.PCPARTPICKER there were plenty of cpus on any platforms somehow made think about Intel too. i can spend more if there's a significant change between gens

keep in mind that DDR2 and DDR3 might be simpler than DDR4 though I lack experience with DDR4 not having it yet. A 200£ used model like the 5800X3D or 5900X could work if you negotiate a bit, otherwise aim for a 5700X/5800X in the 120-150£ range because most new AM4 chips are priced this way. Excluding the 5700X3D which feels like a cheap copy, newer 5800X and 5700X models are still solid for gaming. Plus, once you hit Zen4, you’ll likely need to upgrade soon—there will probably be several new CPU options available, making used B650 or X670 boards affordable, around the same price as current used B3/450 or X3/470 boards, which are about 50£ or less. Compared to older boards like the 300/400 series, these newer ones are overkill unless you want top performance; otherwise, sticking with what you have is smart.
