Java... The system allocates around 3-4 GB for MC. If it behaves oddly, try increasing the memory. Optifine helps by running Minecraft on two cores instead of one.

At least you're not facing the issue I am. Whenever it happens. I adjust the render distance to its highest setting, which makes my game glitches and causes blocks to fly everywhere on the screen. I don’t play multiplayer anymore, so it doesn’t bother me much, but it’s odd.

Yes, my performance drops with 8GB compared to 2GB, even though that happened a while back (the 1.5/1.6 days).

I tried many versions of 1.6.4 and 1.5.2 for shaders, mostly using 1.6.4. Likely some updates occurred afterward.
