Last week a spill on my PC caused slowdowns. The only damaged part was my motherboard. My MSI mpg z390 was swapped for an ASRock b365m-HDV micro ATX. After plugging it in, everything felt much slower—games dropped from 90 fps to just 23. I had to lower all my games to low settings. I own an RX 580 with XFX, two 1TB HDDs, 16 GB RAM, a 1000W PSU, and an Intel i5 8600K. Any fixes or steps I should take? Should I update the BIOS, reinstall AMD Adrenaline, or something else?
Did you reinstall Windows after changing the motherboard? Some drives might move to new boards without problems, but it’s not a built-in capability of the operating system for this purpose.
You connected the monitor to the motherboard rather than the graphics card after getting your PC repaired. The significant drop in FPS suggests you might be using integrated graphics instead of the RX 580. Other potential problems could include overheating from an improperly applied cooler, CPU overheating, and issues reflected in CPU temperatures and clock speed during gameplay.

The B365M board appears significantly inferior compared to the Z390. It seems the motherboard may have lost CPU overclocking capabilities, is overheating severely, and is throttling performance drastically. Could you share your CPU model and its clock speed?

Now I’m experiencing severe FPS spikes and can’t even run games at low settings. After reinstalling Windows 10, updating drivers, updating the BIOS, confirming my CPU isn’t overclocked, and double-checking the monitor connection, I’m questioning whether upgrading my CPU and motherboard would fix the problem.
Return to the shop and express your concern about the motherboard being downgraded during the repair. Make sure you authorized this change beforehand. Are the power supply units identical, or was another one installed instead?
