Struggling with choosing the right Intel RAM speed for 2933+?
Hi, I know a good bit on pc stuff but a certain topic has me a bit confused, I currently own 16gb of 3000mhz ram and will be getting an i7 10700k which specifies 2933mhz, I know thats not the limit but how will I actually be able to raise the speed on the pc, will there be a 3000mhz select option in the BIOS? (if I buy slightly faster ram like 3200mhz will that option be there too?) I will be using a Z490m motherboard. Thanks.
Review your BIOS settings, you should already be able to adjust for faster speeds through overclocking. For speeds around 3000 MHz, you can either set the manual values and timings or activate the XMP profile. If you purchase RAM with a higher clock speed, the XMP profiles will automatically match that speed.
