Struggling with 8700k
Hi guys!
I'm overclocking a brand new 8700k and I'm getting crazy... Heres the config:
8700k@5Ghz
Gskill F4-3200C14D-16GTZ X 2 (32GB total)
Asus ROG Strix z370-F
I used the settings advised by der8auer (plus AC/DC load line) in
this video
.
At first I used 16GB 2100 cheap RAM and I got it "stable" at 1.315v (1 hour realbench, 1 hour prime95 26.6 FFT size 1344).
After installing the Gskill modules (full test with memtest86, no errors) the system isn't stable any more. Even at 1.345v.
Could you help me please?
Thanks in advance.
There is no such thing as "safe." I wouldn't feel at ease even with your present core voltages (or anything higher than 1.3v). The SA is configured as an offset, so approximately +0.200 should be fine if you're not relying on offsets for the core voltage.
It's not related to CPU cores. You adjusted the low speed 2x8GB to high speed 2x16GB, which puts a lot of stress on the memory controller in terms of frequency and density. If the issue lies with the controller, it can be fixed by raising the SA voltage or reducing RAM speed. However, it might also stem from a RAM or memory problem. You should lower the CPU clock to its default setting and enable XMP to adjust the RAM clocks, latencies, and voltage. A 2x16 3200MHz CL14 model may not be compatible. P.S. Exceeding 1.3v on the CPU is not advisable.
The safe range for SA voltage is typically specified by the manufacturer and should be followed to ensure proper operation and safety.

I understand, I'll give it another shot.
Why is my CPU load with RealBench still low?
