I have a Gigabyte B450 AORUS Elite V2 motherboard. I've attempted to boost the CPU speed to 3.7 GHz and even higher, but stability remains an issue even with +0.14 dynamic voltage offset on core voltage. At full stock voltage, achieving stable speeds around 3.5 GHz is impossible; when auto-boost is enabled, it only reaches about 2.9 GHz occasionally (sometimes 3.1 GHz). The target frequency should be around 3.2 GHz base clock. I've tried numerous adjustments but haven't reached the performance levels others achieve (around 3.9 and 4.2 GHz). If anyone has insights or can confirm my CPU is underperforming, please let me know. I explored another forum but didn’t get clear answers—my motherboard seems to be restricting the CPU. I’m trying to figure this out without a dedicated AMD overclocking tool or PPT/EDC/TDC settings. My BIOS leaves auto-boost on, and default settings push it to Ryzen Master 87W. Voltage is set to 1.36V at 3.6 GHz, but it crashes under Windows lockscreen, making login impossible. I’ll share some screenshots of my BIOS and hwinfo when stressing the CPU with OCCT if you’d like.

PBO adjustments apply only to Zen3 processors. It seems you have a poorly categorized chip. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options if this is discovered early. If you act quickly, you might have the CPU returned for warranty reasons, but once the warranty ends you’re left with it.

Honestly Im glad the problem is that my cpu is garbage I was going nuts trying to make sense of this, so to be clear, the problem is just that my cpu is just dying right?

Overclocking can cause performance drops on CPUs, and the inability to reach stock performance is already a worry since a failing processor shouldn’t be expected to function at its normal level.

I took good care of this CPU, kept it under 70°C and avoided overclocking. It should reach around 3.6 GHz on its default settings, but it caps at 87 watts and doesn’t go higher than 2.9 GHz. I’m not sure what’s causing the issue.

Have you attempted using stock mode, resetting BIOS settings, or clearing the CMOS? I’m not sure, but it seems like a user mistake. These basic components often work well on their own, and Ryzen chips are usually built to handle themselves without manual intervention.
