Hello.
I wanted to check how my PC performs after some overclocking. The main focus is on the temperature.

Here’s the setup: NZXT S340 W, PSU CORSAIR RM850x, MOBO Asus z170 gaming pro aura, CPU i5 7600k OC @ 4.5GHz (BIOS settings), GPU STRIX 1060 O6G OC @ +100 to core clock / +500 to memory clock (after using MSI afterburner due to a previous issue), RAM HyperX 16GB @ 2666Hz, CPU cooler CM 212X, case fans Corsair SP120 2*IN/1*OUT.

What I need to know is whether the temperatures are within safe limits.
The numbers below were recorded during stress tests and not for gaming. When the case is closed, temperatures are:
- GPU up to 70°C
- CPU up to 74°C for short periods, staying stable between 65/70°C

Removing the side panel shows:
- GPU up to 65°C
- CPU up to 70°C, remaining stable at 60/65°C

Performance results are as follows:
Far Cry Primal – Ultra/Very High @ 94 max, 71 min FPS
GTA 5 – Ultra/Very High @ 120 max, 70 min FPS
ROTTR – Ultra @ 146 max, 60 min, 85 average FPS
Dirt – Ultra – stable at 160 FPS sometimes higher
Dirt 2 – Ultra – 250 FPS
Mass Effect Andromeda – Very High/Ultra @ 80 FPS
AC Syndicate – Max @ 80 FPS

I feel quite comfortable in that FPS range (with my 144Hz monitor).
Would your opinion be different? Maybe it could be even better.

Thank you again for your time and expertise.

Your temperatures are looking decent. You probably don't need to worry much about them. If you want extra cooling, consider getting a water cooler for your CPU during overclocking. I've got an i5-4690k that's been overclocked with the same fan I use—it's still performing well after two years. The 10 series Nvidias really shine, it's impressive. It makes the Vega look quite underwhelming.

My GPU would aim to stay under 90 and the CPU under 80.

Temperatures are okay. Well done. If you're content with that, everything is good.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
According to the title, I'm curious about how well my PC performs after some overclocking.
The most crucial factor is the PC's temperature.
Configuration: NZXT S340 W
Power Supply: CORSAIR RM850x
Motherboard: Asus z170 gaming pro aura
Processor: i5 7600k OC @ 4.5GHz (BIOS OC enabled)
Graphics Card: STRIX 1060 O6G OC @ +100 to core clock / +500 to memory clock
(OC performed with MSI afterburner since the GPU tweak stopped working and couldn't exceed 1939core clock and 8488 memory clock)
RAM: HyperX 16GB @ 2666Hz (2*8GB)
CPU Cooler: CM 212X
Case Fans: Corsair SP120 2*IN/1*OUT
What I need to know is whether the temperatures are safe.
The values below are from stress tests, not actual gaming conditions; gaming temps tend to be lower.
When the case is closed, temperatures are:
- GPU up to 70°C
- CPU up to 74°C for milliseconds, stable between 65/70°C
Removing the side panel shows:
- GPU up to 65°C
- CPU up to 70°C, stable at 60/65°C
Performance results:
Far Cry Primal: Ultra/Very High @ 94 max 71 min FPS
GTA 5: Ultra/Very High @ 120 max 70 min FPS
ROTTR: Ultra @ 146 max 60 min 85 FPS average
Dirt: Ultra stable at 160 FPS occasionally higher
Dirt 2: Ultra @ 250 FPS
Mass Effect Andromeda: Very High/Ultra @ 80 FPS
AC Syndicate: Max @ 80 FPS
I feel quite comfortable in that FPS range (with my 144Hz monitor).
But I’d appreciate your thoughts too.
Could it be even better?
Thank you again for your time and expertise.
Your temperatures are impressive! You should start to worry when reaching 85°C or higher. Try pushing your CPU to 4.6Ghz and see if you can keep it below 80°C with that $40 air cooler. If you manage to hit 4.6Ghz at under 80°C on the CM 212X, you're in great shape. You can further improve your CPU temps by upgrading to dual 120mm or dual 140mm AIO coolers such as Corsair H105 or H110.
