Streaming through a VPN improves connection performance.
My connection is 100 Mbps. Previously, Steam downloads would often hit over 11 MB/s, but now they’re stuck around 6 MB/s unless I turn on Cloudflare Warp, which brings it up to about 9.5 MB/s. The problem keeps changing. Sometimes I get decent speeds without a VPN, but for the last two weeks there’s been frequent slowdowns. Speed tests show consistent ranges of 92–97 Mbps without a VPN, so I’m unsure what’s affecting my downloads. Without Cloudflare, with Cloudflare, and without it, the results are similar.
VPN seems to speed things up now. Think about it—maybe you're connecting through a different region. Try running the test again. There could be some unexpected factors if it's not the most direct path. Smart hackers might be watching closely, which is surprising and intriguing. Need a snack?
Check if your internet speed is restricted and confirm whether you're using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Do you operate in the United States? Which internet service provider connects you? Your connection speed might be limited if your ISP is restricting bandwidth.
Ethernet supports unlimited speeds in Europe, but could your download slow down unexpectedly despite a stable connection elsewhere?
Are you familiar with your nation's rules on net neutrality? It seems many parts of Europe lack such regulations, allowing ISPs to potentially slow connections for certain services. This means a direct link to Steam could be monitored and bandwidth restricted. Using a VPN changes that, ensuring consistent speeds regardless of location.
Infinite ultra-fast internet... LMAO, it’s even better than AOHell. Still, I miss Connie—she was really hot.
They also enjoy restricting YouTube access (clearly because it's a source of free income for them, essentially relying on ISPs).
