Hey, this sounds like something you might encounter in a gaming-focused tech community. We run a sound booth and stream our sessions live on YouTube. Our setup uses a Mac with an i7 6700, but streaming was completely impossible—especially handling three displays and video playback. The CPU was constantly at full load and throttling due to poor thermal management. Switching to a laptop with an i5 12600k resolved the issue, which runs smoothly with only light usage. I have an i3 12100 on standby, but it’s unclear if that would suffice for streaming. Online feedback is mixed, often tied to gaming contexts. I’m considering selling the i5 and getting a better capture card like an Elgato to improve processing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For basic streaming of meetings, the i3 suffices, though not ideal. If you anticipate needing more performance later, consider upgrading to a higher resolution or opt for an i5 or better, preferably an i5 12400f—it’s more affordable and doesn’t require extra cooling solutions.

It seems the encoding process reduces resource demand, letting the CPU handle less work.

I chose to test it out and it worked perfectly, no problems at all with the i3 12100 by itself.
