Streaming games on the Lan platform
Streaming games on the Lan platform
The issue lies in the distance between the next gaming PC and the TV, though they're in the same house. I need to stream on my TV without moving the PC, but the internet isn't strong enough for cloud streaming and only decent for LAN. Because of the quarantine rules, I couldn't purchase new hardware. I tried installing Retropie with Parsec, which didn’t work well due to command issues and package problems. That didn’t help much since the quality was poor even with Parsec between two Windows 10 PCs. I then used Steam Link and Moonlight with Nvidia Experience Stream to make the best of my LAN connection, but the results were not great because of low bit rates. I recall having an L300 NComputing, which is great—it required little bandwidth and worked fine for LAN. I could set up a user account to protect my data and had several benefits. The main challenge was that the virtual machines didn’t share the GPU, so performance was limited. My question is: Do these devices share GPUs or can they? Any suggestions to stream smoothly on my TV without too much trouble?
Your internet connection doesn't matter when streaming between devices on your local network. The data usually stays within the LAN unless your network setup is improper. Also, you haven't provided enough details about your equipment and configuration. Could you share more about your network setup, the specifications of the devices involved?
