I have an Asus PG278QR monitor and steam/gaming all on the same PC. Some games play super smooth while others feel laggy or choppy, even though OBS shows no frame drops. Turning V-Sync helps for some titles but not for others like Apex or Rainbow Six Siege, and I don't know what to do next. What changes can I make so this stops?
It's like not having vsync at all when you play games designed for 165hz full CPU usage. They will use the whole computer for the game, which slows everything down. You'll have to put a frame limiter on your game or increase priority for encoding (obs has that setting). Both options will lower your FPS in the game.
Which OBS setting for the encoder should I use so I get what I want? I set it up on my Nvidia card, but it still copies instead of recording.
Use the task manager to locate the file named nvenc.exe. Then, make sure it is set to high priority every single time, because otherwise your computer might not work well enough. If you don't want to do all of this again and again, use a third party tool like process hacker so that you can save these changes for later.
