Hey, I’m trying to figure out this strange problem with my computer. Whenever I run GPU-heavy apps—like games or video streaming—I notice significant lag in other programs such as Discord and Firefox. It mainly happens when using video content, especially during streaming sessions. The issue started after I installed the new LG27GN850-B monitor and its associated software.

I’m using it with two other monitors: an Asus 1920x1080 model connected via HDMI (no DP), and a Huion Kamvas Pro 20, also 1920x1080, both HDMI-based. The LG monitor connects through DisplayPort. My ASUS StriX 1070 GPU came from a prebuilt PC and has two HDMI and two display ports. It’s been over a year since I got the new monitor, but I’ve noticed some odd behavior:

- Lag appears only when games are running, getting worse with more graphics-intensive titles.
- The lag is consistent across all video-streaming apps, not just inside games.
- It happens whether I play a game or stream on YouTube—streaming and gaming both get affected equally.
- Swapping the Huion’s HDMI port to DisplayPort and unplugging the LG monitor fixes the problem completely.
- If I switch to Firefox or Discord after exiting a game, everything works smoothly again.

I’ve tried solutions like lowering the game resolution to 1080p to ease GPU load (sometimes helps, but not always), streaming the screen instead of the game window, and changing rendering settings. But the core issue keeps reappearing.

I’m considering a few fixes: upgrading to a modern GPU (maybe 2000 or 3000 series), replacing the Asus monitor with one that supports DP, or switching all cables to DisplayPort. These options are costly and time-consuming, especially since I work with graphics daily.

If you have any ideas or know more about what’s going on, I’d really appreciate your help. I’m hoping for a quick fix rather than a major hardware change.

Open the GPU driver's 3D settings and turn on low-latency mode, choosing "Ultra." This significantly cuts down input lag for GPU-heavy programs by limiting buffered frames before they reach your screen. I’m not sure why it isn’t enabled by default. It seems there’s no drawback to using it. You might also test the game in borderless window mode to check if the problem continues. If you’re already using that, switching to fullscreen could help.

I recently tested it because it looks like a straightforward fix, but it doesn’t seem to work. Other programs still lag. (Now I believe adjusting this setting might improve performance in some Apex games.) Regarding the borderless windowed and fullscreen method, I’ve also attempted it before without success.

I don't think the issue is connected to your monitor. It seems like you're attempting multiple tasks at once on an older GPU. The fix might involve upgrading to a newer model (though that's not advised now since the 40-series release is near), or turning off monitors to reduce workload. You could also avoid streaming to Discord, which is quite demanding.
