I'm facing an unusual issue with a USB 3.0 port on my build for a client. The cable splits at the header, but only one port functions properly. I've used an adapter with a standard USB header on the motherboard, which resolved the problem, but it only works when the USB 3.0 cable is plugged in. The board is a H110m-s2h micro ATX, paired with an i5 6500 CPU, GTX 1050ti low profile, and a 2x4GB Corsair Dominator 3000MHz DDR4 RAM. The case is the CiT S506—though it didn't impress much, especially since the fan stopped working and fitting the dual slot for the 1050ti was tricky. Modifying it to fit an HDMI cable was necessary. Overall, it looks sleek and affordable, but I'm open to suggestions.

Here are some images of the configuration. The USB 3 on the far right isn't connecting.

It seems like either the cable is faulty or the port isn’t working. If you have another cable, it might be worth testing it. If the port is unresponsive, consider returning the device.

Both connections functioned with the USB 2 header plugged in, suggesting the USB 3 header may be faulty. If it looks simple, like a bent pin, you might repair it yourself; otherwise, you'll need to return it for replacement.

I was considering the same until I used the USB 2 adapter. I only have a spare USB3 single cable, not one that splits into multiple ports. Probably I could borrow one from another case, but it would be inconvenient since most front ports are soldered to a PCB that fits a USB port. Hmmm... It seems the header might be the main issue—just it doesn’t work with both ports. Maybe there’s a voltage problem where the header can only provide power for one connection. If there was a bent pin, I wouldn’t have been able to connect the cable easily. RMA isn’t an option because it’s a second-hand board. Just have to stick with USB 2.0 and inform the buyer. Thanks for your feedback both of you.
