I considered using Manjaro but noticed experts suggest starting with an Ubuntu-based system first. Also, I wanted to use the Unity Game Engine, which is simpler on Ubuntu-based platforms.

It doesn't really matter too much, but there shouldn't be a major variation in how the fonts appear. For testing, I'd switch monitors to check for any differences, which could point to issues with brightness or color settings on your Linux system.
