I've been through Wonderland Secret Worlds, an old puzzle PC title from the early 2000s. It's really solid overall, but the only thing that’s fading is the lack of options to undo or retry small errors—something common in most modern puzzle games. You’d have to restart the entire level, which can take 5 to 10 minutes at times. Are there any ways to save your progress at a specific point, similar to emulator features, so you can jump back without redoing everything? This game is quite light on resources, using only about 70MB of RAM and barely using CPU power. I just checked it out, and it’s quite efficient.
On emulators it's quite straightforward because you're preserving the hardware or system state instead of just the game. This method also allows resuming VMs since they capture the whole setup. Saving a single process's state is very tough when modern systems manage many interdependent tasks. Without deep reverse engineering, you're likely in trouble, and since you mentioned it, you probably lack the necessary skills or information.
