The app is consuming a large amount of storage, using nearly 78GB on a 128GB device. I only have 7GB remaining, which is causing my phone to slow down. I thought it might be related to too many contacts, so I removed the 1300 contacts I didn’t recognize—my mom synced hers to mine and we’ve been moving files since then. This fix should help in the future but isn’t working now. Reports suggest this app typically uses 4-10GB, but it seems I’ve exceeded that. I’m worried my phone might stop working soon, especially since it’s a Samsung Galaxy A35 5G. Please advise!
Is this covering everything sent through messaging? Yes, it includes images, videos, and documents. Space usage for contacts only appears when photos or videos are included in the contact entry.
WhatsApp downloads many photos, but this doesn't always mean it uses your WhatsApp storage.
Based on what I understand, it didn’t work as expected at first, but I realized my circumstances might have changed. I removed the biggest conversation (thousands of images and videos), and it seems to be making a difference. It appears Google Messages is taking time to delete such large files, but the count is gradually decreasing. Thanks everyone!
