Hello everyone, I'm seeking guidance on how to address this problem with the AsRock motherboard my brother used. He transferred all his components to this new board, and it powers on correctly—lights flicker, fans spin, and storage devices start up—but it won't boot. The board model is the X570 Taichi. Only two new components have been added: a 2TB WD Blue drive and a 1TB Samsung 850 Evo. I also have new RAM (Corsair Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x4GB) and the X570 Taichi itself. I noticed the EPS connector has an extra 4-pin plug in addition to the standard 8-pin, which isn't compatible with his current PSU. The Dr. Debug Code appears after every boot attempt as 04, but I've checked for memory or CPU issues and everything seems fine. I reinstalled the RAM and tried with the original set, even swapping slots and using one stick at a time, but the code remains. I've reviewed the manual and online forums for similar issues, but I'm still confused. The current setup includes: CPU Ryzen 1600X, RAM 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, motherboard X570 Taichi, GPU Gigabyte Windforce GTX 1080, SSDs (240GB PNY CS900, 256GB Kingston 1TB), and a WD Blue HDD (2TB) and WD Blue SSD (1TB). Board doesn’t accept first generation Ryzen chips. I’ve made this error before as well.
This model doesn't work with the Ryzen first generation processor.

A fresh CPU would offer better performance, while a different motherboard might save money but not significantly.
He’s been aiming for newer components gradually, so a fresh CPU seems like the best choice. Otherwise he might opt for another motherboard—some of these items arrived during the holidays and I barely managed to move his parts for him. I’m not very familiar with AMD CPUs and motherboards; I usually stick with Intel for the CPU platform. This probably explains my limited knowledge before handling all the upgrades. That’s on me for thinking AM4 works with any AM4 CPU. I’ll find out more when I talk to him later today.
Consider opting for a more affordable motherboard and increasing the RAM to 16 GB. The 1600x remains a strong CPU. If you can swap the motherboard, or choose a cheaper AM4 model compatible with earlier generations, that would help. Don’t stress about it—this was a similar oversight I made, assuming any AM4 board would work without checking compatibility.
