You're looking at building an HTPC with a budget build, and you're concerned about the cost of OS components. To understand what's included in SteamOS, you might explore the official documentation or community resources for the specific hardware you're using. Since you're new to troubleshooting, consider starting with the initial setup and sticking to well-supported components. If you need guidance on compatible parts, reaching out to forums or support channels could be helpful.

I think I'll install Ubuntu or Debian since they're similar. Intel graphics work well for budget builds, while NVIDIA offers a dedicated GPU. The CPU doesn't really matter—both AMD and Intel are fine. I plan to upgrade to 8GB of RAM.
