Someone has reported seeing someone write files to the incorrect drive during an update installation, which takes a long time—like two hours for a 10GB download for Helldivers 2 on an SSD. Meanwhile, Task Manager shows the game running on the HDD at full speed while the actual drive is at zero. This issue hasn’t been seen before, and someone is looking for a solution for Windows 11.

Check if the SSD has sufficient available space for swapping files during updates. The HDD appears to be struggling with delays, possibly due to a failing drive affecting overall performance. Consider disconnecting it to test stability. Slowdowns can stem from a dead drive impacting the system.
