Steam was compromised through unauthorized access.
Yesterday, my Steam account was compromised. Someone accessed it around 6:30 AM and sold my Glock-18 water elemental for nearly $10 at a price of $2.61 each. They then withdrew $400 from my PayPal and purchased two Galil AR VariCamos, each costing about $0.07. I suspect they listed them at $100 each to collect the full amount. I reached out to Steam support, who refunded the money but took my water elemental and prevented me from using my account online. I followed their instructions, but they haven’t replied yet. I’m hoping they’ll get back to me soon and will update you when they do. The login message attached shows what Steam displays after I try to access my account.
Another Steam thread was hacked today. Looks suspicious. I won't be using Steam this week.
They’ve been used a thousand times—Password1234567890 isn’t secure at all. I know it sounds annoying, but trust me, it’s not safe.
I usually wait a week before taking action. Steam is trying to confirm you've fully removed all risks... I mean, absolutely everything. I'm being very careful. I think changing my password could actually increase the chances of something happening again. I'm hoping today's two threads are just a reminder from the old screensaver message, which would be a relief. Still, it's not a positive sign at all.
