when you list your items on steam, they mention a 15% fee on the sale price. however, if you sell something for just three cents, you only receive one cent after the charge. this seems to be significantly higher than the stated 15%, making it around 66%. what’s happening?

What makes you think I should sell something so small?

The Steam Community Market applies a tax to every product sold in the store. For an item priced at $1.00, the tax works out based on a 5% market rate and varying taxes depending on the game—like 10% for TF2, meaning the item should be worth about 85 cents. SCM also charges on items as low as 3 cents.

Haha, what surprises me more is how people are willing to sell them or even buy them. So you're thinking you might earn about a dollar? Honestly, I'd rather keep them. They don't really do anything, after all.

That's precisely what I'm saying... they don't do anything and I can earn $1. But at least I should receive the full payment? Why is steam being taken in the form of commission?
