Great performance with those drives. I own two in RAID0, using the 512GB model from 2017. Have you looked for a firmware update via Samsung Magician? Also, verify the NVMe settings—make sure it's set to 4x speed.

I turned off the GPU acceleration and chose Windows 8 compatibility mode. The last three restarts worked fine.
