Steam Summer Promotion - Are You Targeting Discounts?
We shouldn't overthink the upcoming sale, but some observant shoppers might spot a few trends. Prey’s items during the Steam summer sale are likely to see modest reductions—possibly around 15% to 30%, not the full 50%. My guess leans toward a smaller discount, depending on the product line.
I believe Prey will be available at a reduced price. Most popular titles and new AAA releases often come with discounts. I don’t expect a full 50% off, but rather around 10-30% like you mentioned. I’m also looking forward to a Rise of the Tomb Raider deal. It’s time to dive into some Lara Croft adventures ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Recent titles with major Steam promotions often don’t offer any price reductions. Games like Endless Space 2, Tekken 7, and Friday the 13th remain at full cost during these events. Prey is only about two months old, yet a 34% discount feels unexpected. As a fan of this genre, I’m concerned it might not perform well, but I don’t want to assume Prey underperformed.
Well, I wanted to buy it but not at full price. 34% I'm probably going to pick it up. I think it being on sale may indicate it has sold well enough but sales have petered out a bit. They may be boosting its profile by inclusion in the steam sale. This is just a guess though. Also, sometimes when DLC is close to coming out the game goes on sale to get more "base copies" out there. This is the trend I saw with Xcom and Stellaris... Anyway, I read that the last level is iffy or has some sort of issue that makes it less enjoyable than the rest of the game. This is disappointing and why I didn't buy it right away.
The game doesn't have traditional "levels," so it's unclear which part they were talking about. Endings in games are often debated, but the one for Prey didn't seem significantly below average. Early and mid-game sections generally perform better, though this is common as surprises fade and RPG mechanics become more prominent. If you're interested in Prey, it might be worth trying—it likely offers a satisfying experience.
