When I get halfway done to 3/4 finishing the game, it tends to kick me out to desktop. Its almost as if their is a program in the background, but I am pretty sure its Steam related. What can I do?

Maybe it's because it's an older title, so it wasn't designed for Windows 7.

It's a fun game, but it keeps crashing a lot. I keep getting hooked. I'd rather play the original; I really miss it.

I recently dealt with a similar issue when switching to Windows 7. The game runs as a 32-bit application while your OS is 64-bit, which limits its memory usage to just about 2 GB—even though you have more available. Because the game wasn’t designed for that environment, it crashes once it reaches the 2 GB limit. To resolve this, the game needs to be recompiled as "Large Address Aware." There’s a tool called LAA that can help with this. You can download it from the provided link and unzip it to your desktop or any location you prefer. Run the program with admin privileges, then follow the instructions to set the flag and save changes. For more guidance, you can check the Steam support page on game file verification. Keep in mind, using this method carries some risk—consider backing up your games beforehand.
