Steam OS is exclusive to Steam machines. For alternatives, consider Linux (which works with Steam) or a budget Windows version.

Choose Ubuntu for Linux if you prefer it. Steam OS only offers the Steam client, not a full desktop environment.

It's incorrect, but you can obtain SteamOS and set it up on any PC that satisfies the conditions.

Steam OS is essentially Debian with Steam already installed. I recommend choosing Ubuntu since it offers a more suitable desktop experience. Steam doesn’t include a full desktop or web browser like Ubuntu does, and it’s primarily built for use on TVs.
