People are discussing whether Steam OS is a better choice than Windows for your setup. You mentioned using it heavily for gaming and also doing some architecture work, so you're weighing performance and versatility. Steam OS might offer features tailored for gaming and development, but it could differ in stability and compatibility compared to Windows. Let me know if you want more details!

It really comes with an endless list of drawbacks, such as being limited to Linux games and missing your GPU drivers—that's really bad. Just stick with Windows, okay?

It wouldn't be a good idea. With Windows, you feel confident your games should run smoothly.

It's just a Linux system with a Steam overlay, which doesn't really make much sense at first glance. You might want to try a complete, working Linux distribution instead or go with Windows. It has some benefits, but most of them are available in other Linux distros too, and it also brings all the usual downsides of Linux. I respect the concept, and it does make sense over time—especially for budget-friendly Steam boxes—but I wouldn't use it as my main computer.

Not yet in this phase of the OS. Perhaps later, since you can only run supported Linux games.

You really need to try this—why not set up a dual boot?

At this point in time, there is no reason to use SteamOS. You can only play Linux games, and there's barely a trace of GPU support

Sure, let's keep it simple.
I'll choose Windows and mention Steam Big Picture.

The concept remains the same; every game needs to work with Linux.
