I haven't tried Link myself, so I can't give a true recommendation. I find the concept appealing and the price seems reasonable considering its size and appearance. However, I won't purchase it because I use an older office PC from work. If you don't mind the look, check out shops or online stores that refurbish used office computers. You can easily run a 5 to 10-year-old office PC for streaming games. Installing Linux will make it work perfectly. The main factor is price—those office PCs tend to be larger and less attractive than Link.

I don't possess the Steam Link, but my friend did. He allowed me to borrow it for a week while he was away on vacation. While using it, I found it to be excellent. The controller felt smooth and comfortable. The buttons on the device reminded me of an Xbox controller—maybe Valve and Xbox teamed up on this project? Still, it was worth testing. I’m likely to buy one myself soon. The link was straightforward to use. There were no issues streaming games from my computer to my living room TV; just connect online and it recognized my PC easily. The interface was simple and easy to use. Unfortunately, I had to stop using it after a week. As Todd Howard said, "It just works."
