Hi, I'm facing issues with my M2 SSD drives. Steam often slows down installation and updates, sometimes causing files to fail or the program to crash. I've had to re-download or re-install games multiple times. On the other hand, when I try to install on another drive, everything works smoothly. I have two SSDs—one Samsung 980 M2 and one Seagate 2TB—plus a Windows 11 Pro system running on a Kingston UV400 SATA SSD with 120GB. My CPU is an i7-13700K, RAM 32GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, and I'm using Gigabyte B760 Gaming. Over the past two days, downloading Arma 3 was fast initially but took about five hours to install, after which errors appeared during launch. This only happens with Steam, not on other platforms. Any suggestions? Thank you! Edit: My PC was built three weeks ago and all components are brand new.

It’s tough to pinpoint the exact issue right away. Have you attempted to transfer files to your SSDs to verify functionality? Do you have sufficient available space on your boot drive? 120GB is quite limited for Windows 11 these days. You might be dealing with a buffer overflow problem. Could your motherboard be using PCIe lanes alongside a secondary m.2 connector that also has a SATA port? Check the user manual for details.

The issue appears to occur solely on Steam. I tested other services like Origin and Uplay as well; I also tried downloading and installing pirated games, but everything worked smoothly without any problems.

You confirm the game files via Steam, ensuring they are legitimate and properly installed.

1. confirming 2. some x files didn't pass validation and must be re-downloaded
3. the process involves downloading
4. countless hours spent installing
5. now there are three choices: steam crashes near completion, or after long installation it either functions or I encounter errors due to missing files.

The SMART data indicates the two drives experienced errors with specific details about their occurrence.

It seems a bit odd, isn’t it? Are you confident you’ve picked the correct drive? I wouldn’t bet on the Seagate for this one—definitely not the 980 Pro.
